Party Girl Book Review

10 February

Hi, friends! Long time no speak. Today I am back to provide you, my friends, with an honest review of Party Girl, the first book of The Girl Series, written by Rachel Hollis.

Now it's no joke that as soon as my last semester of high school was over, I dove into reading head first, not really knowing where to start. Previously, I had only used Amazon to download the free Kindle books. But, after activating my student Amazon Prime trial, I decided to take full advantage and read some lighthearted novels while I had the chance.

Book Description:

Landon Brinkley’s dreams are all coming true. She’s landed an internship with the fabulous Selah Smith, event planner for the Hollywood elite, taking her from small-town Texas to the bright lights of LA. Landon soon finds herself in a world in which spending a million dollars on an event—even a child’s birthday party—is de rigueur and the whims of celebrity clients are life-and-death matters. At first, the thrill of working on A-list parties and celebrity weddings is enough to get Landon through the seventy-five-hour workweeks and endless abuse at the hands of her mercurial boss. But when the reality of the business reveals itself, she’s forced to make a choice: do whatever it takes to get ahead, or stay true to herself.

Drawing on the author’s real-life experiences as an event planner to the stars, Party Girl takes readers on an adventure among Hollywood’s most beautiful—and most outrageous—people, revealing the ugly side of Hollywood’s prettiest parties.

What I Liked:

Which the book did hold twists and turns, it was light. I did not feel like I was watching a serious drama nor was I ever in tears (unless I was cry laughing). I also loved that the main character, Landon, was in the role of trying to work her way up the ladder to being an event planner. With many books lately, characters are already "up there" and where they want to be and I felt it was very refreshing to see the bullied intern (if you will haha), have to work her way up. One of my favorites was the romance dabbled *note, not splattered or spilled* in. I love a good chick-lit and I feel Rachel Hollis perfectly balanced between romantic, funny and realistic scenes.

What I Didn't:

During some points, the book was very cheesy and sometimes very predictable. Also, at times the writing was a little simple.

To Sum It All Up:

Party Girl, a humor book written by Rachel Hollis, was a very light and simple read. I believe I read this book in a total of five to six hours. It was very easy to understand, no around the bush explanations and with someone who was dealing with exams, I needed this book! The characters were well thought out, the plot was predictable but done with great taste and there are no cutting edge, cliffhangers that no one likes.

I would for sure recommend this book to you guys and I have even provided a link for you to use through Amazon!

Side note: I am very new to the Amazon Affiliate Link program and I do get a small percentage if you purchase the book through my link. This review was COMPLETELY my own and I REALLY did enjoy the book. I would never suggest or promote anything on This Is Home that I did not like personally or think you guys would like.

Thank you guys so much for the love, support and for taking the time to read my review today. If you would like more reviews on This Is Home, let your girl know!
