Getting Back Into Routine

24 August

Hi friends! With summer coming to an end and school starting back up, you may be finding it a little difficult to get yourself or a young one back onto a routine. Today, I'm going to offer you 4 tips for getting back into a routine.

1 // Decide the Routine

The most important step for getting back into a routine is establishing the routine. Take the time to sit down and write down how your routine should be.

For Example:

6:00 A.M - Wake Up

6:05-6:20 A.M - Breakfast, Get Dressed, Gather Things

6:30 A.M - Catch the bus/ride

-

4:00 P.M - Snack time

6:00 P.M - Dinner

7:00 P.M - Shower/Calm Down Time

8:00 P.M - Bed

Note: This is only a sample, not my schedule (sadly) I wish I could go to bed at 8 ;)

2 // Begin Your Routine Early

Don't start trying to establish your routine the night before school! Your body needs more time to adjust to the new wake up and sleep time. I would say start 2 weeks or so ahead of time. That way, you're less likely to struggle so hard trying to get out of bed the first day of school!

3 // Put Effort Into Sticking To It

This is probably the hardest part! When you don't have to get up early the next morning, it's hard to convince yourself you need to be getting up! Stick to your schedule and make yourself get up earlier so you are prepared for 'the day'. Staying up late might sound tempting now, but you'll probably regret that decision later!

4 // Gradually Get Into Your Routine

Again, it might be difficult to get back onto routine. By starting early, you can also allow yourself to gradually go to bed earlier and gradually get up earlier.

If you have been going to bed at midnight, try going to bed at 11 tomorrow night. Then the next night, go to bed at 10. That way, you're not making a two hour jump in a shorter time period.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope I have helped you find a way to get back into your routine successfully!
